Sally
Can't Dance
is a recurring party at the Bowery Electric that gathers numerous
local musicians around a theme night. A house band plays the songs,
and a series of vocalists sing the cover tunes. Past events have
included tributes to the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, the Talking
Heads, the Ramones, the Stooges, the New York Dolls, and the Cramps.
This
Sally
Can’t Dance
celebrated the Summer of '77. Diane Gentile curated the show. Prima Donna and Night Spins opened the
evening. Josh Styles of Daddy Long Legs was the disc jockey. Michael
T of Michael T & the Vanities served
as
the master of ceremonies.
The Los Angeles-based Prima Donna also served as the house band, featuring
vocalist/guitarist Kevin Preston, keyboardist/saxophone player Aaron
Minton, bassist Lights Out Levine, and drummer David S. Field. Matt
Gabs of the Baltimore-based Ravagers joined on second guitar.
