Notes from an Artist,
a nightly online music and talk show hosted by musicians David C. Gross and Tom
Semioli, hosted a benefit for Teen Cancer America at the Loft at
City Winery on February 9. The event, entitled Feast on Our Beggars Banquet, gathered musicians from the local
club circuit to perform their renditions of the 10 songs from the Rolling
Stones' 1968 album Beggars Banquet . Chris Berardo,
Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter, Garland Jeffreys, Mott the Hoople '74), Lizzie
Edwards (Lizzie & the Makers), the Joey Kelly All-Stars,
Chris Parker (Miles Davis, Bob Dylan), Puma Perl & Friends,
and Gass Wild (Pretenders, the Love Pirates) were among
the performers.
Roger Daltrey and
Pete Townshend of the Who created Teen Cancer America (TCA). Since
2012, Teen Cancer America has partnered with hospitals throughout the United
States to develop specialized facilities and services for teens and young
adults with cancer. TCA builds teen friendly environments, enhancing the
hospital experience. TCA develops standards for age-targeted care, improve
collaboration between pediatric and adult specialists and enable dedicated
research to improve outcomes and survival for our young people. TCA's Play It Back music program gives
adolescent and young adult cancer survivors the opportunity to express
themselves and heal through the power of making music. Play It Back connects cancer survivors with industry professionals
to create songs, meet artists, and explore music.
